When I am in the midst of things in the third dimension, and feeling a certain way, and not connected to anything to take me to a higher dimension, what is the most direct path from that point?
On the mental level, see light.  On the feeling level, float.  These both at the same time.
How can I awake in the morning, and lift to a high energy, feeling configuration, and be most assured of continuing throughout the day in a high energy, feeling state?
When you first awake in the morning, you don the crust of the physical plane.  Take a few moments and be aware of this donning process, and allow the crust to soften and vibrate energetically with your inner being.  Get up and start going about things, and as you think of it, engage this energetic vibration in your physical plane interface.  When the supposedly random occurrences occur which draw you into a lower vibration place, you energize the situation from your inner being.  The ‘crust softening’ allows your inner strength of energy to emerge into the physical dimension, and this changes the circumstances of your experiences.  Things that people say and do take a different path.  Physical events that affect your physical life take a different path.  You can mentally stay connected in this way, and the more you do, the more you will stay in a high energy vibration throughout the day.  The more you can remain inwardly, energetically focused, the more this will work for you.  If you are faced with the most daunting conditions on the physical plane, your inward energetic focal point will change everything.  Most people don’t remember to do that and get caught up in the ‘reality’ of the physical conditions.  It is like a movie or television show that is more interesting.  Someone can be talking to you in a room about how to raise your energy level to a higher plane and a television news story comes on about someone being killed and your head turns and immediately gets sucked into the television drama.  This is the same thing.  The reason you tend to fall into a low energy place so easily is that you are letting the drama of the physical plane suck you into forgetting that your aim is to remain at a high energy level.  It is up to you to train your mind to remember to keep this focus.  As you go on, you will awake in the morning and the crust will no longer be there.  you will awake as an energetic being, and move throughout the day as an energetic being.  The energetic nature of your being will be prominent and the physical aspec of your existence will become peripheral.
When you get off track and the emotional states start to weigh, it can be difficult to keep the energetic focus.
Nevertheless, remembering to mentally shift to the energetic focus when that happens is the path to alleviate that condition.  The more emotional weight, the more of what you call time is required for perceived change to occur.  That is why you should be persistent, and remember that this is the path.  It is just as though you are deep in a body of water and you know the direction toward the surface.  The deeper you are submerged, the longer it takes to get to the surface, and although still submerged, you know the direction to go and you know that you get there by swimming.  This is the same thing.  When you know that you are weighed with emotional states, you know that the direction to a high vibration feeling place is to focus inwardly on your energetic being, and that the more weight of the emotion, the more it appears there is to move through, but that is nonetheless the path of swiftest shift into the high energy place.
What about when physically tired?
Same approach.  When you are physically tired, you are trying to take on the physical plane in a physical way.  You can let that go and let the energy handle it all.  You just haven’t realized how easy it is to do this, and keep getting fooled into thinking that the physical can only be dealt with in physical ways.  It is the opposite.  The physical is really energetic, and dealing with anything energetically is very easy and much more effective.  Keeping your focus inwardly on your energetic being will lead you to this understanding.
If we find ourselves in that state, weighed down by fatigue, would the ‘physical crust’ approach be useful?  Could we approach the condition in that way, and soften the crust by focusing on our internal energy?
Yes, this is kind of like the egg shell we were talking about recently.  When you realize that your mental/emotional states are being driven by the perception of the physical world, then you can shift to the understanding of the physical as a projection, in infinite space, and this has the shape of a crust or eggshell within the infinite space.  Perceiving this crust immediately brings your understanding to its relevance with respect to the infinite, and brings your awareness to your energetic infinite nature.  This has a softening effect on the crust, and through the softening effect your emotional and mental conditions soften from their rootedness into the physical environment.
How can I go to sleep tonight and be assured of sleeping peacefully and deeply and comfortably?
Let your inner energetic essence emerge from your physical body and leave the identification behind.  Float into the higher dimensional space as you are going into sleep.  The tension that attempts to keep you confined in the physical space is what causes restlessness.  Let go of that concept and allow your spiritual self to progress into the infinite space.  This is natural for you, and such things as restlessness and tiredness are not conceptually possible when you are this way.
It seems that conscious focus is at the hub and everything else is an extension from it.
This is true.  Your conscious focus is the gateway to the infinite, and nothing else need be given any consideration.  Everything that goes on in your three dimensional world, or any finite dimensional world, is all done from a filtered existence that pares the infinite energy into something that projects into finite dimensions.
Is there any way to maintain conscious focus in conjunction with living through the projected, filtered existence, other than by ‘brute force’ effort?
What makes it feel to you like brute force effort is necessary is the interplay between your feeling states and your conscious state.  Your response to physical and emotional sensations causes you to close the consciousness portal.  This is a reverse of the way your conscious being actually operates in the physical plane.  If you will enter into all of your reality experiences through the consciousness portal, then your sensations will become an extension of your experience, rather than a driver of your expectations that defines how your creation projects.  It is a matter of reminding yourself and training yourself to remember to enter in this way.  As you do it, you will get the hang of it, and see that all of what occurs is an extension of your conscious projection.  Your motivation for will to project with your consciousness will naturally adjust as you realize this, because the motivation to be reactionary based on unsavory sensations will dissipate.
